Low Guide-to-Client ratios on courses and guided
ascents ensure that your safety, enjoyment and
expectations are fulfilled. Climbing and ski mountaineering with a
guide is the
safest and most informative way to extend your
climbing and skiing abilities...whether you are contemplating a
trans-alpine crossing, ascending the highest peaks, ski touring the
glaciers or climbing technically demanding routes. |

The Sefton Bivy, under Mt Sefton and Footstool, is ideal for this. It
offers great climbing and
vast areas of glaciated terrain close to the Mt Cook village, perfect
for Alpine instruction and mountaineering.
The type of trip that would run from this area on a
4 day trip basis would be to walk the 3 hours into the Sefton Bivy
area.
This is located under the impressive peaks of Mt Sefton and the
Footstool. They both offer perfect alpine and glaciated terrain
training. Instruction will be on
snow, ice and rock belays/anchors, crevasse rescue
techniques, glacier travelling, and ice and snow
climbing. These techniques are put to the test by
climbing on the glaciers these areas have to
offer.
This trip will give you some good grounding in mountaineering -
the rest is up to you. See below for the cost of the 4 day trip per person: The 6 or 8 day Alpine Climbing Course utilises aircraft access to get into areas with bigger glacier neves and areas with numerous mountains to practice your new climbing skills such as the Tasman Glacier Region or the Pioneer region.

TRIPS ON THE GLACIERS AT AORAKI MOUNT COOK BALL PASS TRIPS:
We offer guided trips over the Ball Pass. Contact us for a price to
do this East Hooker Valley - Ball Pass - Tasman Valley adventure.
Minimum numbers required.
The most popular and standard route on Mt Cook is the
Linda Glacier route / North East arete. This trip leaves
from the Plateau Hut area and follows the Linda Glacier,
Linda shelf and then onto the North East arete via the
summit rocks to the summit.
This trips starts with a ski plane or helicopter flight to
the Plateau hut area on the eastern flanks of Aoraki Mt Cook.
Cost is NZ$4995 per person for 6 days. This includes
mountain
guide fee, food and fuel, hut fees, DOC permit fees and
12.5% GST.Helicopter or skiplane aircraft access only is included. The ratio is 1:1. Aircraft eggress out can be arranged at extra cost. NB Clients must be fit and must have previous mountaineering
experience. The trip will only be done if conditions are good at the time.
Mt Tasman is the second highest peak in the country
and in many ways the technical and aesthetic equal of
Aoraki. It benefits from a longer duration of the season
during which conditions are at the optimal for a
successful ascent. Where conditions can forbid
attempts of Aoraki/Mt Cook sometimes from the latter
parts of January on, Mt Tasman will often still be in very
good condition through to late March (especially from
the Western side, or the North ridge)
The timeframe and costs differ from the above rates and you can
expect the personal commitment and length of the
summit day to be very similar to Aoraki/Mt Cook. This is
a mighty mountain. Cost: $4995 per person for 6 days. Includes guide fee, hut fees, food during the trip, Cessna Skiplane access only, GST and DOC permit fees.
